Letter from Auntie Emma: You Matter So Much!

Writer: Auntie EmmaAuntie Emma

Dear sons and daughters,

1 Timothy 4:12 "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

As young people, sometimes you may feel worthless, as though your voice and concerns are not heard. You think adults and even fellow young people don’t hear you out. On the contrary, you matter so much. Your voice, your concerns and worries do matter a lot . Never look down on yourself.

The Bible says, be good examples by how you act, what you say and how you carry yourself. This means that, you are valuable. That your life matters and someone looks up to you.

Isaiah 40: 29-31 "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Verse 30 of Isaiah 40 acknowledges that yes as a young person you will grow tired, tired. You will make mistakes, fail and lose hope. Never feel like a failure when you fail exams, when you try so hard, but things are not going your way. The Bible says that it happens but verse 29 says that God gives strength. He increases power to the weak. Therefore, you need to have faith. Trust in God. When you feel like your efforts are not bearing fruits seek God. God will renew your strength.

My prayer for you is that you know your identity in Christ. We are living in a world that is cruel and unforgiving. We know to have an identity in our Lord.

Are you a believer, kindly surrender your life to Christ. Let Him ease your burden.

Teenage years can be difficult and lonely as you struggle to fit in. Do not conform to the world. Do not try to be like what you see in movies and videos. Have an identity in Christ. Ask God to establish you, to give you an identity that other young people will admire and want to imitate.

Jeremiah 21:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

When you trust in God, then He will prosper you. Because He has a great plan for those who believe and trust in Him.

As my Rafiki Around the World ambassadors, in our schools, at our homes and community let us be of noble character. Let as be aware that other young people are looking up to us.

 May we be of admirable character.

 May our deeds represent Christ

 May we show love especially to those struggling and feeling lost among us.

 Let us have faith and trust God

Love,
